The London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR), long the most important number in banking, ceased publication for most tenors on January 1, 2022.
To mark this historic milestone, Bank of New York Mellon’s Chief Investment Officer and Executive Sponsor of the firm’s LIBOR Program, Jason Granet, met with Director of Markets and Wholesale Policy for the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Edwin Schooling Latter, for a lively and candid conversation on the key takeaways from the UK’s move away from LIBOR, expectations for the US move with USD settings due to cease in June 2023 and expectations for a post LIBOR world.
